Emirates Medical Association was established in 1980 as a non-profit organization, by the Ministry Social Affairs – Ministerial Decree No. (24) in the year 1980.  

EMA consists of Doctors who have a scientific certificate in medicine and surgery. We had merely started with a hand few of members and over the years, the membership has increased tremendously.

Today EMA has over 6,000 members who are certified by internationally accredited medical bodies, under various Medical Specialty Societies. From the commencement, EMA has set a very high benchmark for unrelenting advancement and perfection of national health care standards with foremost emphasis on quality medical education for health professionals, abiding by a code of medical ethics, working intimately with government authorities and private entities to improve Public Health.

Over the years, the Emirates Medical Association has promoted scientific advancement to improve Public Health.  EMA's history is a rich narrative that demonstrates the important role of the institution and its members who have played a vital role in the development of medicine in the United Arab Emirates.
