We Love Reading initiative - volunteer to read aloud to children

  We Love Reading (WLR) is a Jordanian initiative that seeks to bring back the love of recreational reading to our children through training volunteers on the art of reading aloud to children. Studies have shown that as adults we don't read as much because as children we were not read to. This is why this personal initiative was launched. We Love Reading is currently implementing a project that has developed 12 children stories aimed at raising awareness on environmental issues pertaining to water and energy conservation as well as anti-littering. We hope that through this project we will increase children's love of reading as well as raise their environmental awareness. WLR is seeking passionate volunteers from various parts of the Kingdom to train on the art of reading aloud as well as be part of a simple survey that will measure the effect of stories on changing children's behaviors and awareness. To date, WLR has trained over 500 volunteers on the art of reading, changed over 5000 children in Jordan and its model is implemented in 14 countries around the world.
