Arab Youth Volunteering for a Better Future - Jo

About the organization

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme is the UN organization that promotes volunteerism to support peace and development worldwide. Volunteerism can transform the pace and nature of development, and it benefits both society at large and the individual volunteer. UNV contributes to peace and development by advocating for volunteerism globally, encouraging partners to integrate volunteerism into development programming, and mobilizing volunteers.

Description

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) is developing a regional programme “Arab Youth Volunteering for a Better Future” to be piloted in five countries (Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Yemen, and Jordan).

General Information

This regional programme will build on existing traditions of volunteering, self-help, solidarity and reciprocity in the Arab region to empower youth and harness their energy for productive use.

The objective is to bring the identified youth and volunteerism stakeholders together and facilitate a participatory dialogue; as well as, create an enabling environment for a youth-led engagement in the programme design and implementation phases; and also define the main priorities of relevance to youth, and identify potential activities as inputs for the project document and identify main stakeholders for future implementation of planned activities.
